Method

Cocktail Base

  1. 1

    Measure spirits

Add vodka (1 oz), light rum (1 oz), gin (1 oz), whiskey (1 oz), and triple sec (1/2 oz) into a cocktail shaker.

  2. 2

    Add sweeteners and citrus

Pour in prickly pear syrup (1.25 oz), fresh lemon juice (3/4 oz), and fresh lime juice (1/2 oz) into the shaker with the spirits.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with cubed ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold.

Assemble & Finish

  1. 4

    Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice (about 1 cup).

  2. 5

    Strain

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the fresh ice using a hawthorne or fine strainer to keep out small ice shards.

  3. 6

    Top with soda

Gently top the cocktail with 3 oz club soda (or lemon-lime soda if you prefer sweeter). Stir once gently with a bar spoon to integrate but preserve carbonation.

  4. 7

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and an optional mint sprig. Serve with a straw. Optionally tuck a thin slice of prickly pear (if available) on the lemon wheel for visual effect.
