Main Ingredients

Citrus Vinaigrette

Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Cut into thin slices. Dice the tomato and finely slice the red onion. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mixed Greens

Wash and dry the mixed greens thoroughly. Place them in a large salad bowl.

Cooking the Tuna

  1. 3

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper. Add a drizzle of olive oil to the skillet. Once hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust time if you prefer them more cooked). Remove from heat and let rest for a minute before slicing.

Making the Citrus Vinaigrette

  1. 4

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, orange juice, honey, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sliced avocado, diced tomato, and sliced red onion to the mixed greens in the salad bowl. Drizzle with the citrus vinaigrette and toss gently to combine.

  2. 6

    Plate the Tuna

Slice the seared tuna steaks and arrange them on top of the salad mixture. Drizzle any remaining vinaigrette over the tuna.
