Danish Pastry

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Step 1: Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and yeast. In a small saucepan, heat milk until warm. Add melted butter and eggs to the milk mixture. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Knead the Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Prepare the Filling

In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  4. 4

Step 4: Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Fill and Shape

Cut the dough into squares. Place a spoonful of cream cheese filling in the center of each square. Fold the corners of the square to the center to create a pocket.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the Danish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Step 7: Cool and Serve

Allow the Danish to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
