Sushi Preparation

1

Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, transfer to a bowl and mix in rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Let it cool to room temperature.

2

Prepare Fillings

Slice the cucumber and avocado into thin strips. If using fresh fish, slice it into thin sashimi-style pieces.

3

Assemble Sushi

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. With wet hands, spread an even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top. Lay cucumber, avocado, and fish in a line across the middle of the rice.

4

Roll the Sushi

Starting from the bottom edge of the mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll. Use a bit of water to seal the edge of the nori.

5

Cut and Serve

Using a sharp, wet knife, cut the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
