Prepare Taco Shells

Bake Crunchy Taco Shells
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the crunchy taco shells on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until they are warm and slightly crispy.

Warm Soft Tortillas
While the crunchy shells are baking, wrap the soft flour tortillas in aluminum foil and place them in the oven for the last 5 minutes to warm them up.
Cook Protein

Prepare Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully browned.

Add Taco Seasoning
Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the browned beef. Add 1 cup of water and stir well. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the liquid has reduced.

Add Taco Seasoning to Chicken
Mix the same taco seasoning with the shredded ranchero chicken and add 1/2 cup of water. Stir well and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Assemble Tacos

Fill Taco Shells
Take the warm taco shells and fill them with either ground beef or ranchero chicken, according to your choice.

Add Toppings
Top the tacos with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños as desired.
