Method
Prepare the Taco Filling
- 1
Brown the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Add Seasoning
Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly.
- 3
Mix in Refried Beans
Stir in the refried beans until well combined and heated through. Remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the Taco Shells
- 4
Heat Oil
In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 5
Fry Tortillas
Carefully add one corn tortilla at a time to the hot oil. Fry for about 30 seconds on each side or until crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Shape Tortillas (Optional)
If desired, you can shape the tortillas into a taco shell shape while still warm by folding them over a rack or an oven-safe dish.
Assemble the Tacos
- 7
Fill the Shells
Take each crispy taco shell and spoon in the beef and bean mixture, filling each shell generously.
- 8
Add Toppings
Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños as desired.
- 9
Serve
Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your crunchy beef tacos!
