Method
Preparing the Fish

Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water until smooth.

Fry the Fish
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Dip each haddock fillet in the batter and carefully lower it into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Fry the Potatoes
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato strips in batches for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.
Making the Tartar Sauce

Mix Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, dill pickles, capers, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste.
Making the Coleslaw

Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
Serving

Plate the Dish
Serve the fried haddock alongside the French fries and coleslaw. Add a generous dollop of tartar sauce on the side.
