- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato sticks in a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This step helps in achieving crispier fries.
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and lay them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Pat them dry completely to remove moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot or a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of dried potato sticks into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- 6
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste. Toss gently to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
- 7
Serve
Serve the crispy, golden French fries immediately while they are hot, alongside your favorite dipping sauces.
