Preparing the Patties

Season the Beef
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix well, but do not overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the seasoned beef into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Assembling the Burger

Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and chop the lettuce. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rounds.

Toast the Buns
Optional: Lightly toast the sesame seed buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.

Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Place a grilled beef patty on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, pickles, and onion slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
