Method

Meat Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Flank Steak

In a bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the spice mixture all over the flank steak, ensuring it's well coated.

  2. 2

    Sear the Flank Steak

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the flank steak for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Slow Cook the Flank Steak

Place the seared flank steak in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender and easily shredded.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a bowl, combine barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and honey. Stir until well combined and set aside.

  2. 5

    Combine with Meat

Once the flank steak is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it. Stir to combine and let it cook for an additional 30 minutes on low.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the baguettes in half lengthwise. You can lightly toast them if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spoon the pulled flank steak mixture onto the bottom half of each baguette. Top with coleslaw and pickles if desired. Place the top half of the baguette on top.

  3. 8

    Serve

Cut the assembled sandwiches into smaller portions if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
