Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix the ingredients until they form a dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (around 475°F or 245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.

  2. 6

    Shape Pizza Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Tomato Sauce

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza base, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute it over the sauce. Then add sliced tomatoes, minced garlic, and sprinkle fresh basil on top.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice it, and serve hot with extra basil on top if desired.
