Method

Preparing the Milanesa

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken or Beef

Pound the beef or chicken breast to an even thickness of about 1 cm and season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Set Up the Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Dredge each piece of meat first in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

    Fry the Milanesa

Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Fry each breaded piece of meat until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Assembling the Fugazzeta

  1. 4

    Prepare the Baguette

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Slice the baguette in half lengthwise and drizzle the inside with olive oil.

  2. 5

    Cook the Onion

Slice the onion thinly and sauté it in a small pan with a little olive oil over medium heat until translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Ingredients

Place the fried milanesa on the bottom half of the baguette. Top with sautéed onions, slices of mozzarella cheese, and tomato.

  4. 7

    Add the Finishing Touches

Sprinkle with oregano and minced garlic, then add a layer of lettuce. Drizzle mostaza sauce over the top, and close the baguette.

  5. 8

    Bake

Place the assembled baguette in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

  6. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven, slice into portions, and serve hot. Enjoy your Fugazzeta!
