Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  3. 3

    Cream butter and sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add eggs and vanilla

Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

  5. 5

    Combine wet and dry ingredients

Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Baking

  1. 6

    Pour batter into pan

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 8

    Cool the cake

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Topping

  1. 9

    Prepare strawberries

While the cake cools, wash and slice the fresh strawberries. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and let them sit for 10 minutes to release their juices.

  2. 10

    Serve

Once the cake has cooled, slice it and top with the strawberries and a few mint leaves for garnish before serving.
