Churro Dough

Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until the eggs are fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.

Sugar Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating the churros after frying.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer.

  2. 6

    Add Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Frying Churros

  1. 7

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 8

    Pipe Churros

Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the churro dough. Carefully pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.

  3. 9

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 10

    Coat in Sugar

Immediately roll the fried churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat them evenly.
