Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until thick and pale. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined.

Baking

  1. 4

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 5

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft and slightly jiggly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Cool and Serve

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes, then invert them onto individual plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
