Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the New York strip steak dry with paper towels. Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet over high heat for about 5-10 minutes until it’s very hot.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the steak on the grill or in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare or until desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Preparing the Mixed Salad

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and dry the mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. Slice the cucumber and red onion thinly.

  2. 6

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and feta cheese.

  3. 7

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to taste.

  4. 8

    Dress the Salad

Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are coated.
