Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur.
- 2
Separate the Eggs
Carefully separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Place the yolks in a large mixing bowl and the whites in a separate bowl.
- 3
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
Add granulated sugar to the egg yolks and whisk until the mixture is pale and creamy. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.

Soak the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular or square dish.
- 6
Layer the Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- 7
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 8
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
