Method

Tuna Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinating the Tuna

In a shallow dish, whisk together the sesame oil and soy sauce. Place the tuna steaks in the dish and turn to coat them evenly. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  2. 2

    Preparing the Tuna

After marinating, remove the tuna steaks from the refrigerator. Pat them dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper. Sprinkle the sesame seeds evenly on both sides of the tuna steaks, pressing them gently to adhere.

  3. 3

    Searing the Tuna

Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. Add a drizzle of sesame oil to the skillet. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the tuna steaks in the skillet. Sear for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, adjusting cooking time for desired doneness.

Garnish

  1. 4

    Preparing Garnish

While the tuna is searing, chop the green onions finely. Once the tuna is cooked, remove it from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna steaks into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 5

    Serving

Arrange the sliced tuna on a plate, sprinkle the chopped green onions on top, and serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the tuna.
