Method
Cooking the Oats
- 1
Prepare the Oats
In a medium-sized saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- 2
Add Salt and Oats
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tsp of salt and 1 cup of steel cut oats to the saucepan.
- 3
Simmer
Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the oats simmer for approximately 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the mixture has thickened to your desired consistency.
Preparing the Toppings
- 4
Wash the Fruits
While the oats are cooking, rinse 1 cup of fresh strawberries and 1 cup of fresh blueberries under cool water. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
- 5
Slice the Strawberries
Remove the green tops from the strawberries and slice them into thin rounds.
- 6
Prepare the Almonds
If using unsalted almonds, consider toasting them lightly in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes to enhance their flavor.
Serving the Oatmeal
- 7
Assemble the Bowl
Once the oats are cooked, spoon a serving into a bowl. Top with sliced strawberries, blueberries, and sliced almonds.
- 8
Drizzle with Agave
Finish by drizzling 2 tablespoons of organic agave syrup over the top for added sweetness.
