Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the New York strip steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned steak to the hot skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Cooking the Eggs

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a separate non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Cook the Eggs

Crack the eggs into the skillet. Cook them sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled, depending on your preference. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  3. 7

    Serve

Once the eggs are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and serve alongside the sliced New York steak.
