Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Turn occasionally for even cooking. Once done, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the bacon is cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and pat dry. Slice the tomato into thin rounds. If using avocado, slice it in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. Then slice into thin pieces.

  3. 3

    Fry the Eggs (Optional)

If adding fried eggs, heat a small amount of oil or butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembling the B.L.T.

  1. 4

    Toast the Bread

Toast the slices of bread until golden brown and crispy, using a toaster or in a skillet.

  2. 5

    Spread the Mayonnaise

Once the bread is toasted, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.

  3. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On two slices of bread, layer the lettuce, followed by the crispy bacon, and then the tomato slices. If using, add slices of avocado and top with the fried egg.

  4. 7

    Complete the Sandwich

Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down. Press gently to hold everything together.

  5. 8

    Serve

Cut the sandwiches in half, if desired, and serve immediately with your choice of side.
