Method

Brownie Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt the butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add eggs and vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 5

    Mix wet and dry ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool and prepare topping

Allow the brownie cake to cool completely in the pan. Once cool, remove from the pan and place on a serving platter.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Add toppings

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the brownie cake, then sprinkle with roasted peanuts and a pinch of smoked salt.

  2. 9

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve with scoops of vanilla gelato on the side.
