Base Ingredients
Preparation
1. Brew Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool down to room temperature. If desired, mix in coffee liqueur into the brewed coffee for added flavor.
2. Prepare Egg Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture becomes thick and pale, about 5 minutes.
3. Add Mascarpone
Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until it's smooth and well-combined.
4. Whip Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assemble Tiramisu
5. Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long, as they can become soggy.
6. Layer Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
7. Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
8. Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve Tiramisu
9. Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder using a fine mesh sieve.
10. Add Chocolate Shavings (Optional)
If desired, garnish with dark chocolate shavings for an extra touch.
11. Slice and Serve
Slice the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic Italian dessert!
