Method

Preparation of Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the New York strip steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps them cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steaks with olive oil, and season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Preparation of Asparagus

  1. 3

    Prepare the Asparagus

Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the tough ends. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Preparation of Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Prepare Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel and mince the garlic cloves.

  3. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, and minced garlic. Mash until creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cooking

  1. 7

    Grill the Steak

Preheat the grill to high heat. Grill the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 8

    Grill the Asparagus

During the last few minutes of grilling the steaks, add the seasoned asparagus to the grill. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally until tender and slightly charred.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Let the steaks rest for about 5 minutes after grilling. Serve the grilled steak alongside the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.
