Beef and Seasoning
Sandwich Assembly
Method
Preparing the Beef
Season the Beef
In a large bowl, combine the shaved beef with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated with the seasoning.
Cook the Beef
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shaved beef to the skillet and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked and browned. Remove from heat.
Assembling the Sandwich
Prepare the Hoagie Buns
While the beef is cooking, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the hoagie buns lengthwise, and place them on a baking sheet.
Toast the Buns
Place the hoagie buns in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes or until slightly toasted.
Build the Sandwich
Once the buns are toasted, layer the cooked beef onto the bottom half of each hoagie bun. Top with provolone cheese slices and place the top half of the bun over it.
Serving
Prepare Au Jus
In a small pot, heat the beef broth over medium heat until warm. Serve it alongside the Italian beef sandwiches for dipping.
Add Pepperoncinis
Open the jar of pepperoncinis and arrange them on the side of each plate for a tangy complement to the sandwiches.
Serve
Serve the Italian beef sandwiches hot with the au jus and pepperoncinis on the side.
