Method

Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 175°C (350°F).

  2. 2

Carefully add the frozen French fries to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.

  3. 3

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste.

Chili

  1. 4

    Cook the Chili

In a large skillet or saucepan, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.

  2. 5

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 6

Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. 7

Add the canned diced tomatoes and kidney beans to the mixture. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Dish

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

  2. 9

On a large baking sheet, layer the crispy fries evenly.

  3. 10

Top the fries generously with the chili mixture.

  4. 11

Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and place in the oven to melt, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 12

Once the cheese is melted, remove from the oven and drizzle sour cream over the top. Garnish with chopped green onions.

  6. 13

    Serve immediately while hot.
