Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bun

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Add the Toppings

On the bottom half of the bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and slices of onion.

  3. 8

    Add Condiments

Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the bun, then place it on top of the assembled burger.
