Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembly
- 5
Shape the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- 6
Add Cheese Filling
Cut the dough into strips (about 1 inch wide). Place a tablespoon of mozzarella cheese on one end of each strip, then fold the dough over and seal the edges securely.
Frying
- 7
Heat Oil
In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Sticks
Carefully place the stuffed dough strips in the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- 9
Drain Excess Oil
Remove the fried sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Garlic Butter Topping
- 10
Prepare Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in garlic powder and dried parsley.
- 11
Brush the Sticks
Brush the melted garlic butter over the fried sticks and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Serving
- 12
Serve
Serve the Bosco sticks warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
