Pizza Dough

Method

Prepare the Dough

1

Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

2

Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

3

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4

Let the Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assemble the Pizza

5

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.

6

Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

7

Add BBQ Sauce

Spread BBQ sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

8

Layer the Toppings

Evenly distribute the shredded chicken, bacon bits, and red onion over the BBQ sauce. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

9

Bake the Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

10

Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle with chopped cilantro if desired, slice, and serve hot.
