Method
Preparing the Burger Patty
Mixing the Patty Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overworking the meat.
Forming the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
Cooking the Burger
Preheat the Grill
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
Grilling the Patties
Place the formed burger patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.
Adding the Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle the bleu cheese crumbles over the patties and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Burger
Prepare the Buns
Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
Assemble the Burger
On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted bleu cheese, crispy bacon, and a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
