Onion Rings

Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onions into 1/4 inch rings and separate them into individual rings.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth.

  3. 3

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, place the coated onion rings onto a plate.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Breadcrumbs

In a shallow dish, spread out the breadcrumbs and the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing them together.

  5. 5

    Coat with Breadcrumbs

Take each battered onion ring and coat them in the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs stick.

  6. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  7. 7

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully add a few onion rings at a time into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve hot with your special sauce on the side for dipping.
