Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks for even cooking.
- 2
Mix the Spice Rub
In a small bowl, combine paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Apply the Rub
Rub the spice mixture all over the pork chunks, ensuring they are well coated.
Cooking
- 4
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Pour in the apple cider vinegar. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
- 5
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 6
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, pour in the BBQ sauce, and stir to combine. Let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to meld the flavors.
Serving
- 7
Assemble the Sandwiches
Spoon a generous amount of the pulled pork onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles if desired, then place the top half of the bun on.
- 8
Serve
Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm, with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
