Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep the Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add either the loose-leaf black tea or the tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

  3. 3

    Remove Tea

After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain out the loose-leaf tea to prevent bitterness from over-brewing.

Sweetening the Tea

  1. 4

    Add Sweetener

While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar or your sweetener of choice until fully dissolved.

Cooling the Tea

  1. 5

    Chill the Tea

Transfer the sweetened tea to a pitcher and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate until chilled, about 1-2 hours.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Over Ice

Fill glasses with ice and pour the chilled iced tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
