Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate. Heat over low heat, stirring continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft and jiggly.

  8. 8

    Rest and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the cakes rest for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
