Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water to the batter until well combined. The batter will be thin.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

  1. 8

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk until you reach your desired consistency.

  2. 9

    Add Vanilla

Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

  3. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
