Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper while still hot.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
