Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

Drain and Dry
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper while still hot.

Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
