Fondant Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) to ensure it's ready for baking the fondants.
- 2
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (bain-marie) or in the microwave, stirring until smooth and fully combined.
- 4
Mix Eggs and Sugar
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 5
- 6
Add Flour and Vanilla
Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Fold gently until just combined.
Baking
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full.
- 8
Bake the Fondants
Place the filled ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft.
- 9
Cool Slightly
Once baked, remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute. This will help the fondants to slightly firm up.
Serving
- 10
Serve Warm
Run a knife around the edges of the ramekins to loosen the fondants. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift it off. Serve immediately while warm to enjoy the molten center.
- 11
Garnish (Optional)
You can dust the fondants with powdered sugar or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for added flavor.
