Ceviche Ingredients

Method

Ceviche Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Seafood

Start by cleaning and deveining the shrimp. If using frozen shrimp, ensure they are fully thawed. For the calamari, clean and slice it into rings.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Seafood

In a large glass or ceramic bowl, combine the shrimp and calamari. Pour the fresh lime juice over the seafood, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 30 minutes, allowing the seafood to 'cook' in the lime juice.

  3. 3

    Chop Fresh Ingredients

While the seafood is marinating, finely chop the cilantro, tomato, red onion, and jalapeno. Remove the seeds from the jalapeno if you prefer less heat.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

After 30 minutes, check the seafood. The shrimp should be opaque and the calamari tender. Drain some of the lime juice if necessary, then add the chopped cilantro, tomato, red onion, jalapeno, salt, and black pepper to the seafood mixture.

  5. 5

    Toss and Serve

Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or lime juice if needed. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or on a bed of lettuce.
