Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Remove the Porterhouse steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt and black pepper. Rub the minced garlic and chopped rosemary over the steak.

  3. 3

    Searing the Steak

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over high heat until it shimmers. Carefully place the seasoned steak in the pan and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until a nice crust forms.

  4. 4

    Basting with Butter

Add the butter to the pan and once melted, use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter for additional flavor. Cook for another 3-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting cooking time as needed for desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Resting the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Tent it loosely with foil and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serving

Slice the steak along the bone and serve with any sides of your choice.
