Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently but thoroughly and form into 4 equal-sized patties, about ½ inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, cut the hamburger buns in half and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Place each patty on the bottom half of a bun. Add ketchup, mustard, and pickles to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.

Sides and Drinks Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare French Fries

If using frozen French fries, cook them according to package instructions. If making from scratch, cut potatoes into strips, toss with oil and salt, and bake or fry until crispy.

  2. 7

    Prepare Fruit

Wash and cut the fruit into manageable pieces, such as apple slices or grapes for easy eating.

  3. 8

    Serve Drinks

Chill the soft drinks in the refrigerator before serving. Pour into cups just before serving.

  4. 9

    Prepare Cookies

Arrange the cookies on plates for serving. If desired, warm them slightly in the oven before serving for a fresh-baked taste.
