Method
Preparation of Filling
- 1
- 2
Prepare the Jalapeños
Remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño peppers and finely chop them.
- 3
Mix the Filling
In a bowl, combine the chopped bacon, jalapeño peppers, cheddar cheese, and cream cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assembling Wontons
- 4
Prepare the Wonton Wrappers
Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place a teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.
- 5
Seal the Wontons
Beat the egg in a small bowl and use it to brush the edges of the wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper over to create a triangle and press to seal tightly, ensuring no air pockets remain.
- 6
Repeat
Repeat the process until all filling is used up, placing the assembled wontons on a tray.
Frying
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a deep saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Wontons
Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, frying them in batches. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 9
Drain and Cool
Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Making the Sauce
- 10
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In a bowl, mix together ketchup, mayonnaise, and hot sauce until smooth. Adjust hot sauce to taste.
