Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth and well combined. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until evenly mixed.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the melted chocolate mixture. Stir well until combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture, stirring until just combined.

Baking

  1. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 6

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  3. 7

    Cool and Serve

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes, then invert onto plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
