Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

Divide the Angus beef into two equal portions, about 4 oz each. Gently shape them into round patties without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Season the Patties

Sprinkle both sides of each patty with salt and black pepper.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Using a spatula, smash each patty down firmly until they are about 1/2 inch thick. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties, place a slice of American cheese on each patty, and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Cooking the Bacon

  1. 6

    Cook the Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the pecan smoked bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Preparing the Onions

  1. 7

    Sauté the Onions

Slice the medium onion and sauté in the bacon grease left in the skillet for about 5 minutes until they are translucent and caramelized.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Toast the Buns

Spread butter on the inside of each burger bun and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, add a layer of butter leaf lettuce, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, sautéed onions, slices of tomato, and pickles. Drizzle with Alabama white sauce.

  3. 10

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently.
