Instructions for Apple Tart
- 1
Prepare the Crust
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the ice-cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Filling
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and a little sugar if desired. Set aside.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it into the bottom and up the sides. Trim any excess dough.
- 4
Assemble the Tart
Arrange the apple filling evenly over the crust. You can layer the apples in a spiral pattern for a beautiful presentation.
- 5
Bake the Tart
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
- 6
Serve
Slice the apple tart and serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
