Housemade Ranch Dressing
Method
Preparing the Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Slice each whole dill pickle in half lengthwise, creating two long halves. If the pickles are too wet, pat them dry with a paper towel.
Stuffing the Pickles
- 2
Stuff with Cheese
Take the pepper jack cheese and cut it into small sticks or slices. Place a piece of cheese inside each pickle half.
Breading the Pickles
- 3
- 4
Bread the Pickles
Take each stuffed pickle half, first dip it into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each piece is well-coated.
Frying the Pickles
- 5
Heat Oil
In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the breaded pickles into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Making the Ranch Dressing
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 8
Chill the Dressing
Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Serving the Dish
- 9
Plate and Serve
Serve the stuffed pickles warm with a side of housemade ranch dressing for dipping.
