Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Seasoning the Steak

Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Steak

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the steaks in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time if you prefer a different doneness.

  3. 3

    Basting the Steak

In the last minute of cooking, add the butter and rosemary to the skillet. Use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steaks to enhance the flavor.

  4. 4

    Resting the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Boiling the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into equal-sized chunks. Place them in a large pot filled with cold water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  2. 6

    Mashing the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy, adjusting the milk for desired consistency.

  3. 7

    Serving the Mashed Potatoes

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl. You can garnish with additional butter or fresh herbs if desired.
