Prepare the Pork
Season the pork shoulder with onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Mix in the BBQ sauce.

Prepare the Onions
Slice the onions into thin rings and soak them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

Mix the Coating
In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

Prepare the Vegetables
Shred the green cabbage and carrots.

Mix the Slaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Toss until well mixed.

Chill the Slaw
Cover and refrigerate the slaw for at least 30 minutes before serving.
