For the Mozzarella Sticks
For the Marinara Sauce
Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Breading Station
Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- 2
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour, ensuring it's fully coated, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese to adhere well. Repeat until all sticks are coated.
- 3
Freeze the Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during frying.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.
For the Marinara Sauce
- 7
- 8
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- 9
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
- 10
Serve
Remove from heat and serve warm alongside the mozzarella sticks.
