Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the salt and then the elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and bubbles.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the Monterey Jack cheese (or spicy queso cheese sauce if preferred), black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine and Serve

  1. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until all the pasta is evenly coated.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings (Optional)

If desired, sprinkle bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese over the top. You may also add chopped green onions for added flavor.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve hot, and enjoy your creamy CYO Mac n Cheese!
