Method

Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on one side, until browned.

  2. 4

    Flip and Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bun

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. Toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
